Health & Safety Disclaimer
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This disclaimer applies to Xoof (the "Service"), operated by FOOX LTD. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Please read it before you rely on anything Xoof tells you.
Xoof is a logging and coaching tool, not a medical service. It is not a registered medical device, it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent any disease or medical condition, and nothing it produces is medical, dietetic, physiotherapy or psychological advice. If you have a health concern, speak to a qualified healthcare professional.
1. What Xoof actually does
Xoof records the training and food you choose to log, calculates statistics from those records, and provides AI-generated coaching that comments on them. That is the whole of it. Xoof does not examine you, does not know your medical history unless you type it in, and cannot detect an injury, illness, deficiency, eating disorder or any other condition.
Figures such as personal records, estimated one-rep maxima, training volume, calorie and macro totals, food-quality scores, goal pace and arrival estimates are heuristics computed from what you logged. They inherit every error in your logging, and estimates of energy and macronutrients — particularly from a photograph or a spoken description — are approximate by nature. Treat them as a useful guide, not as measurement.
2. Always consult a professional
Speak to a qualified doctor, physiotherapist, registered dietitian or other appropriate professional before you start a new training programme, change your diet significantly, or act on anything Xoof suggests — and especially if any of the following apply to you:
- You have a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any chronic illness.
- You have a current or recurring injury, joint problem, or are recovering from surgery.
- You are pregnant, have recently given birth, or are breastfeeding.
- You take prescription medication, including anything affecting appetite, weight or blood sugar.
- You have, or have had, an eating disorder or a difficult relationship with food, exercise or your body.
- You have been advised by a professional to follow a specific diet or training restriction.
Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something Xoof said. Where Xoof and a qualified professional disagree, follow the professional.
3. Limits of the AI
Xoof's coaches and its capture features are powered by third-party AI models. AI output can be incomplete, out of date, or confidently wrong. Specifically:
- Check every capture. When Xoof turns a photo, a voice note or a sentence into a workout or a meal, it returns a draft for you to review. Exercises, portions, weights and macros can all be misread. Nothing is saved until you accept it, and correcting it is your responsibility.
- Coaching is general information. Coaches are instructed not to diagnose and not to give medical opinions, but they are software, and they cannot see you train, assess your technique, or know how you feel.
- Coach "focuses" are lenses, not credentials. A focus such as "Powerlifting" or "Healthy ageing" changes what the coach emphasises. It does not mean the coach is a qualified coach, dietitian or clinician, because it is not a person at all.
4. Training safely
Resistance training and exercise carry an inherent risk of injury. You train at your own risk. Warm up, use a load and technique you can control, use safety equipment and a spotter where appropriate, and get qualified coaching for unfamiliar lifts.
Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, breathlessness out of proportion to the effort, dizziness or fainting, sudden or severe pain, numbness, or a joint that gives way. Do not train through pain because a plan or a coach in the app said a session was due — the app does not know what you are feeling.
5. Food, nutrition and allergies
Never rely on Xoof to tell you whether a food is safe for you to eat. Barcode and product information can come from open, community-maintained databases and from products added by other people. It may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, and it may not reflect a recipe change or a manufacturing "may contain" warning.
If you have a food allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease or any other condition where a specific ingredient matters, always check the physical packaging and the manufacturer's own information. Any dietary preference or allergy note you store in Xoof is there to shape coaching suggestions — it is not a safety check, and Xoof does not screen your food logs against it.
Xoof does not provide dietetic or clinical nutrition services, does not prescribe diets, and should not be used to manage a diagnosed medical condition. Energy and nutrient targets are generic estimates derived from the details you enter.
6. Body weight, goals and disordered eating
Xoof lets you set a body-weight goal, and shows weight trends and food-quality scores. We take the risks of that seriously, and we have designed around them:
- Rates of change are capped when you set a goal, and falling behind never raises your target pace.
- Losing weight faster than the rate you chose is surfaced as a concern, not celebrated.
- The food-quality score describes the composition of what you logged — fibre, variety, processing — and never grades calories, adherence, or you as a person.
- Coaching never asks you to compensate for food, to "earn" it, or to make up for a day with extra training.
- Missing data is treated as unknown, never as a bad day.
Those safeguards reduce risk. They do not remove it, and they are not treatment. Calorie counting, weight tracking and food scoring are not appropriate for everyone, and for some people they are actively harmful.
If tracking is making things worse, please stop and talk to someone. You can delete your account and all of your data from inside the app at any time.
In the UK, Beat runs a free eating-disorder helpline on 0808 801 0677 (beateatingdisorders.org.uk). Your GP is a good first step. For urgent but non-emergency health advice call NHS 111. If you are in distress, Samaritans are available day and night on 116 123. In an emergency, call 999.
7. Age
Xoof is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed for, and must not be used by, children or young people. Body-weight goal setting and food tracking are not appropriate features for under-18s.
8. Emergencies
Xoof is not monitored, and it is not an emergency service. No one reads your logs or your coach conversation in real time, and writing something in the app will not summon help. If you or someone else is in danger, call 999.
9. Your responsibility
You are responsible for deciding what to do with the information Xoof gives you, and you use the Service at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, illness or loss resulting from your reliance on Xoof's output, from training or dietary choices you make, or from errors in logged, estimated or third-party data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. See section 10 of our Terms of Service.
